The production originally announced its closing date as January 1, 2017. In July 2016, the producers announced that the production would instead close in October. Their statement read:  "Although it was our intention to play through the end of the year, in reconsidering the current theatrical landscape, we decided it best to close our production of An American in Paris on Broadway on October 9, 2016."
