Originally announced for the 2015-16 season. On September 3, 2015, BroadwayWorld.com reported that the revival was being delayed to 2016-17. Director/writer James Lapine couldn't find the right mix of actors for the show and producers were asking that a headliner take a lead role. However, the stars that Lapine saw couldn't handle the score. Jordan Roth, head of Jujamcyn (who was involved in the production), approached the Roundabout Theatre about taking on the revival but their schedule was already full. So, the production was delayed.
