This return of the New York City Opera production played three performances in repertory during a two-week season at City Center that immediately preceded a City Opera tour. There were two performances (matinee and evening) on Saturday, February 13, 1960, and an evening performance on February 19.
The other works in the rep during the City Center season were Marc Blitzstein's The Cradle Will Rock, Carlisle Floyd's Susannah, Douglas Moore's The Ballad of Baby Doe, Gian-Carlo Menott's The Consul, and Hugo Weisgall's Six Characters in Search of an Author. All except The Cradle Will Rock went on tour.
