This production was scheduled to tour to a number of cities in the UK after its run in Wythenshawe. The tour was to continue till November 1989, but it was cut short during the first run following Wythenshawe. This was at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool. There was a technically disastrous opening night there, that included props getting destroyed as the set moved. At one point, the . It was said that the performance should have been canceled because apparently it was essentially a tech rehearsal, which they have not been able to do before the first performance in Blackpool. Although the performance on the following night went quite well, the two-week run in Blackpool was cut short and the rest of the tour was canceled. The tour producer, Philip Permutt, blamed the Manchester Library Theatre, where the production had originated in 1985, with the Manchester sets being used for the tour, while most everyone else blamed Permutt, saying the tour was underfinanced and that wa the cause of the problems. Permutt admitted that money was short because a backer had reneged.
