Arthur Sinclair was to have played Finian in this production, but he became ill with laryngitis shortly before the opening. Patrick J. Kelly was rushed to London to take over. He had played the role for a couple of months on Broadway, and he would later return to the role on Broadway.
Sinclair had been announced to create the role in the original production, but he bowed out that time as well (but before rehearsals).
