These song lists document any changes that the production went through aside from the opening night song list.
See MoreProducers soon decided that Kristen Vigard's genuinely sweet interpretation was not tough enough for the street-smart title orphan. It is sometimes said that it was after a week of performances that Vigard was replaced by Andrea McArdle, who played one of the other orphans, Pepper.
We don't have an exact date when McArdle replaced Vigard, but we know it was in August 1976. Previews started on August 10. When Malcolm L. Johnson's review of the production appeared in the issue of the Hartford Courant dated August 22, 1976, he stated that Vigard, whom he saw in the title role, had left the show. A photo caption stated that she had been replaced by Andrea McArdle.
When Patricia O'Haire reviewed the production in the issue of the Daily News dated August 31, 1976, it was McArdle who was reviewed, and there was even a photo of her with Sandy.
Vigard went on to be McArdle's Broadway understudy.
