Donald Graves is the writer (with Gene Vincent) of the 1955 rockabilly song "Be-Bop-a-Lula". Disc jockey Tex Davis purportedly bought out Graves' rights to the song, substituted his own name in the credits, and arranged for Vincent to make a demo.
The first released recording of "Be-Bop-a-Lula" was by Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps in 1956, from Capitol Records (45rpm, catalog number F3450).
Graves' participation in writing the song has been described in multiple narrative accounts, but he is not officially credited.
The song has been interpolated into the following musicals:
... and others.
