Tex Davis is a copyright holder (with Gene Vincent) of the 1955 rockabilly song "Be-Bop-a-Lula". Davis purportedly bought out the rights from the other creator, Donald Graves, substituted his own name in the credits, and arranged for Vincent to make a demo of the song.
The first released recording of "Be-Bop-a-Lula" was by Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps in 1956, from Capitol Records (45rpm, catalog number F3450).
