"Too Many Mornings" and "There Won't Be Trumpets" are on the original London cast recording but they seem not to have been in the production when it opened. It may be that they were cut during rehearsals or previews. They may have been added to the recording to make the total playing time longer in the absence of two numbers that were in the production but were not included on the recording: "There Is No Other Way" and the medley "Conversation Piece."
The show's title was The Sondheim Songbook for its first engagement at the Stables Theatre, Wavendon, Buckinghamshire.
The title Side by Side by Sondheim was suggested by Julia McKenzie.
