Based on the novel Menschen im Hotel by Vicki Baum and her play Grand Hotel translated by William A. Drake

The goings-on at the Grand Hotel Roma in Rome. The characters include American opera diva Isola Parelli and hotel sculler worker Otto Kringelein. Kringelein only has a short time to live and takes luxury a room at the hotel to live it up in the time he's got left...until he is exposed that is. Parelli is staying at the hotel as she performs in Rome and falls in love with a thief pretending to be a baron.

La Saracena was a simulation of an old Italian opera which was invented and composed by Robert Wright and George Forrest for the purposes of this show.
