Until the reissue of this album, it was one of the most sought after cast albums ever recorded. Collector's prices on a mint copy were in the hundreds of dollars.
The rarest of show albums are usually those flops that did get recorded but were either pressed in small quantities (as in the case of Jamie) or were withdrawn very quickly.
Because of contract arrangements made before the show opened, the cast album had to be recorded even though the show was a flop. This happened with many shows of this era and contracts were soon changed so that a show would not be recorded unless it was a success or at least got excellent reviews.
The reissue of this show is licensed and distributed by DRG but the Capitol logo and their own number also appear on both the record cover and the label.
