Children's Chorus
|
New orchestrations were created for this recording by Philip J. Lang, who also probably arranged the completely new overture heard on the recording. On the CD issue, however, "March of the Siamese Children" is heard with the original Robert Russell Bennett orchestration because a recording of that number featuring the Cleveland orchestra conducted by Louis Lane was substituted for the one conducted by Lehman Engel heard on the earlier issues of the recording on LP and tape. The Louis Lane-Cleveland recording used the original Bennett orchestration.
The children's chorus on the recording was from the United Nations International School in New York City.
Barbara Cook and Anita Darian had been in the 1960 City Center revival together. Ms. Darian was also in the 1963 City Center and 1968 City Center revivals.
