Narrator
|
This recording was done as a radio play, with considerable dialogue and some narration. The Bernstein songs used in the production were included in the recording, but not his incidental music. Instead, Alec Wilder composed new incidental music and underscoring for the recording. This has led to the misconception, promulgated in some seemingly authoritative places, that Bernstein's incidental music was not heard in the Broadway production.
