Christopher Hewett left the Broadway production very quickly, in early June 1956. After that, standbys not playing supporting roles in the production were employed to cover the role of Henry Higgins until 1960 or 1961 when Lawrence Keith joined the company as part of the ensemble and understudying Higgins.
