Shortly into the Broadway run, Arthur Wagner had a credit for "Orchestra conducted by" on the man credits page, although Harold Hastings continued to be credited for Musical Direction. The opening night playbill has no credit for Wagner, and the original cast recording LP jacket specifically credits Harold Hastings as conductor, not just musical director, so it does seem that Hastings did conduct the early performances.
