A popular myth holds that the production was a disaster that folded quickly after Brighton, leaving Bela Lugosi stranded and unpaid in England. In reality it ran the full planned route for six months. A West End booking at the Duke of York's Theatre was planned but never materialized, reportedly pending Lugosi completing the film Old Mother Riley Meets the Vampire.
