After the premiere at the Citadel in Edmonton, the production was scheduled to tour to theatres in several more Canadian cities, including the O'Keefe Centre in Toronto, but after playing several performances to only 26 percent of capacity at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, the rest of the tour was canceled. Business had been excellent at the Citadel, despite unenthusiastic reviews, thanks in part to the theatre's subscription base and perhaps the excitment of a major musical based on a famous Canadian novel premiering in Edmonton.
