The production started prevews on Thursday, October 3, 1968. Only evening performances were played through the first weekend. The show was supposed to open on Wednesday, October 9. Playing on a standard Tuesday-through-Sunday Off-Broadway schedule, there was a preview on Tuesday, October 8. In that day's New York Times, an ad for the show still stated that it would open the next day. But in the next day's Times, an ad for the show said that night's performance would be a preview, and no new opening date was listed. This was true the next day as well. On Friday, that day's ad announced that the show would open on Sunday. On Saturday, the show played two performances, as it would have been scheduled to do post-opening, but there was no matinee on Sunday, as there usually would have been post-opening. There was just an evening performance for opening night.
