Notes

The cause of death for Bert Lahr is reported in some sources as hemmorhage and pneumonia. In its obituary for him on December 5, 1967, the New York Times reported that he had been "hospitalized on Nov. 21 for a back ailment. At the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, he later developed pneumonia. His death was attributed to a massive internal hemmorhage."

In his biography of his father, Notes on a Cowardly Lion, John Lahr wrote that the real cause was cancer.
