Harry Houdini did his last performance here on October 24, 1926. When he arrived at the theatre, he had a fever and was diagnosed with appendicitis. He performed but passed out during the show. Afterward, he was taken to the Statler Hotel across the street and later to Grace Hospital where he died of peritonitis.
Housed the Detroit Grand Opera for some time.
