Operated for 17 years as one of the top Harlem nightspots. The policy was all white customers and all black performers.
Lena Horne, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, and the Nicholas Brothers all worked here.
In 1935, race riots made the area became unsafe for whites. Because of the drop in business, the club closed on February 6, 1936 and moved to Broadway and 48th.
The building was demolished in 1958 along with the Savoy Ballroom for the construction of Bethune Towers/Delano Village.
