Trivia & History

Daly moved to here when his Fifth Avenue Theatre burned in 1873. He moved to 30th Street in 1877 and the venue was leased to managers who often prefaced the name of the theatre with their own.
It was destroyed by fire in 1891 and rebuilt with a new entrance on Broadway. Vaudeville took over in early 1900s. Burlesque took over in the 1930s. It became a movie theatre in 1938.
