Synopsis

In Restoration London, a quick-witted young woman catches the eye of theatre folk and, soon, the king himself. As she moves from bustling playhouses to Whitehall, she navigates jealous courtiers, rival favorites, and the hazards of sudden fame. Amid masques, intrigues, and backstage bustle, her candor and charm unsettle decorum, turning opportunists into allies and satire into shield. Romance with Charles II blossoms, but loyalty to friends and the stage keeps her grounded, ending with a triumph that balances courtly favor and a performer’s heart.
