Based on the play Hobson's Choice by Harold Brighouse.

In 1880s Lancashire, a widowed bootmaker rules his shop and three daughters with blustery certainty until his eldest, practical and ambitious, decides to chart her own course. She partners with the shop’s shy craftsman, builds a rival business, and forces her father to confront his pride, his drinking, and his dependence on the very child he underestimated. Amid courtships, family bargains, and town gossip, wit and willpower turn a clash of authority into a hard-won alliance and a future made on her terms.
