Synopsis

The story follows President Theodore Roosevelt and his daughter Alice as their personal and political worlds collide. While Roosevelt grapples with the demands of leadership, Alice rebels against expectations, pursuing her own passions and independence. Her defiance sparks conflict with her father, especially as she falls in love with Congressman Nicholas Longworth. Against a backdrop of national pride underscored by Sousa’s marches, the musical explores family bonds, rebellion, and legacy.

Trivia & History

According to an article in the New York Times, five of the songs, including "The Fourth of July" and "Perfect for Each Other," have music solely by Richard Kapp.
