Based on the play Shot-Gun Wedding by Owen Davis
Terry's love for Betty is unrequited, for Betty thinks she loves Stacy. They are on the verge of an elopment when Betty's father obstructs the way. On the advice of Betty's sister, Mary Jane, Terry sets off on a round of flirtations with other girls that soon makes Betty realize where her heart really lies. (Source: Rodgers and Hammerstein Fact Book, edited by Stanley Green, published by The Lynn Farnol Group.)
The title song of this show should not be confused with the more popular song of the same title written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart for the 1938 musical I Married an Angel.
