Two sisters, both named Anna, leave their home in rural Louisiana to travel to seven American cities in order to make the money to build a new home for their family. In each city, a different one of the seven deadly sins makes it difficult to make the money they need. They return home exhausted and disillusioned.

Because the piece is performed often with symphony and chamber orchestras and not fully-staged, we omit all but significant concert versions and fully-staged versions.
