Synopsis
Billed in the playbill for the original produciton as a "Ballad in Three Acts" (this was changed to "A Folk Opera in 3 Acts" for the published score), Sandhog tells the story of the worker ("sandhogs") who built the first tunnel under the Hudson River, particularly one who survived a terrifying accident.
