While based on an earlier Drury Lane show of the same name by J. Hickory Wood and and Arthur Collins, the changes for the American version were drastic (principally by John J. McNally). Many of the traced songs are also American interpolations. Mother Goose has accordingly been entered as a New York show.

It has not been completely determined which songs were interpolations, although it is probably safe to assume that most of the songs not by Solomon and Hobart were. Most of these were probably also used for only a part of the New York run.
