Synopsis

In Titipu, wandering minstrel Nanki‑Poo returns to pursue Yum‑Yum, who is engaged to Ko‑Ko, a tailor elevated to Lord High Executioner. The city’s powerbroker, Pooh‑Bah, helps Ko‑Ko dodge the Mikado’s demand for an execution by arranging a sham beheading, but the plan unravels when Katisha claims Nanki‑Poo. Deceptions, legal niceties, and comic edicts pile up until identities and betrothals are sorted: the Mikado is appeased, Ko‑Ko finds an unexpected match, and true lovers are free to marry as order—and satire—prevails.
