Based on the novel Les Misérables by Victor Hugo

There have been several changes to the score since the West End opening:

• The number "Little People" was cut down after the London production. It was moved from the first act to the second.
• "I Saw Him Once" was cut after the London production and "In My Life" was extended to add a verse for Cosette. This change was then implemented in the London production.
• In 1997 changes began happening to both the London and Broadway shows. Verses during "Fantine's Death", "Master of the House", "Attack On Rue Plumet" and "Turning" were cut in an attempt to shorten the show. These changes are now part of the standard libretto.
• In the Broadway revival, Gavroche sings "Ten Little Bullets" during his death scene, as opposed to a reprise of "Little People".
