Based on the play Picnic by William Inge

In a small Midwestern town, a sweltering September day brings disruption when a charismatic drifter arrives. He draws the attention of a young woman longing for more than her everyday life, igniting passion and tension throughout the community. Jealousies surface, alliances shift, and relationships are tested as emotions run high. By the day’s end, choices are made that will alter the course of several lives, leaving the town changed under the lingering heat of late summer.
