The score for the first version of HONKY TONK NIGHTS was written prior to the hiring of Michael Valenti as composer. For this early version, the music was by Dick Hyman with lyrics by Dick Hyman and Ralph Allen. In addition, songs of Jelly Roll Morton, Scott Joplin, and Will Marion Cook were used.
