In 1913 New York, during the rise of silent films, a celebrated musical comedy actress plans to leave the stage to marry into society. A determined film producer, still holding her under contract, convinces her to star in an epic adventure set in Egypt. Extravagant sets, elaborate costumes, and a host of comedic mishaps delay production as the two spar over creative choices. The actress’s fiancé arrives to intervene, complicating matters with jealousy and misunderstandings. Meanwhile, the lure of the camera begins to win her over. Between jazz-filled roof garden parties, chaotic studio scenes, and unexpected romantic turns, the production barrels toward completion. In the end, rivalries and affections find resolution as professional respect and personal connection reshape the future for both star and producer.
