Synopsis

In 1960s London, Georgy is a spirited, unconventional young woman whose warmth and candor contrast with the fashionable, self-focused people around her. Her glamorous best friend, Meredith, becomes pregnant but has little interest in motherhood. When Meredith’s marriage to Jos falters, Georgy steps in to care for the baby, creating a bond that changes her life. Meanwhile, James Leamington, her father’s wealthy employer, proposes marriage, offering Georgy a secure but loveless future. Caught between duty, affection, and her own longing for independence, she weighs the choice between conforming to expectations and pursuing a life on her own terms. Along the way, Georgy’s relationships with Meredith, Jos, and Leamington force her to confront what she truly wants, leading her to embrace her individuality and define happiness for herself.
