Based on the novel by Sinclair Lewis

Set in 1920s America, Gantry follows charismatic preacher Elmer Gantry, whose persuasive sermons and magnetic personality hide deep flaws. He partners with Sister Sharon Falconer, a spirited evangelist, to lead traveling revival meetings that combine genuine religious fervor with theatrical spectacle. Their alliance, both romantic and professional, draws crowds but ultimately exposes tensions over faith, ambition, and personal integrity.

There was to have been an original cast album recorded by RCA but it was cancelled when the show closed.
