Synopsis

King Richard's minstrel, Blondel, embarks on a quest to find the king but tries to make it big as a pop singer and songwriter at the same time.

Trivia & History

The idea for a musical about the Crusades had been in Tim Rice's mind since he had been working with Andrew Lloyd Webber. They had done some outlining for the project and entitled it Come Back, Richard, Your Country Needs You. They wrote a song with that title and released it as a single in 1969.
