Trivia & History

This series of recordings, done in England, were recorded with the express purpose of selling in supermarkets, drug stores etc. There were twelve albums recorded (13 shows), all of them issued in mono on the Ed Sullivan Presents label. RCA Camden and National Academy Record Club issued only six of them, RCA's in mono and stereo and NA's in mono only. Neither the ES nor NA recordings credit anyone. The shows in this series are: MY FAIR LADY; KISS ME, KATE; SHOW BOAT; THE KING AND I; SOUTH PACIFIC; OKLAHOMA!; PORGY AND BESS; ANNIE GET YOUR GUN; PAL JOEY; ROBERTA; CAROUSEL; BRIGADOON/FINIAN'S RAINBOW. All twelve of the ES labels credit the National Academy Record Club while the NA series have the identical label except for the number and the 'Ed Sullivan Presents' has been replaced by 'A Stage Door Production'. Credits on the six issued by RCA Camden and NA come from the RCA files. Credits on the others were not available from RCA but they knew the complete series were all done together and most likely contain some of the same vocalists.
