Usually referred to as the Houston Grand Opera recording, we classify this as the 1976 Broadway revival cast recording as the recording was made during the Broadway run of the production.
Although the production made some cuts to the complete published score of the opera (in order to keep the running time, including one intermission, to just three hours, in order to avoid paying overtime to the cast, musicians and crew), the recording represents the complete published score.
Dick Hyman was brought in to play Jasbo Brown's opening piano solo on the recording, although he was never involved the with production in performance.
