The longest-running Gershwin musical of the 1920s.

"Little Jazz Bird", "Insufficient Sweetie", "Who Takes Care of the Caretaker's Daughter?" and "It's All the Same to Me" were specialties for Cliff Edwards (Ukelele Ike), who was a star jazz singer in the 1920s and 1930s.

Composer George Gershwin would suggest dance steps from the piano during rehearsal. Some of these were accepted.

"The Half of It, Dearie, Blues" contained Fred Astaire's first solo dance. He had always danced with his sister, Adele.
