Rehearsals began September 7, 1931. Originally, the show was to have premiered September 28 in Washington DC (theatre unknown). The DC leg of the tryout was cancelled.

Dennie Moore was not cast until a couple of weeks after the show was in rehearsal. Jules Epailly and Raymond Bramley weren't announced until the day of the premiere.

Composer Sigmund Romberg conducted opening night.

Rather than close the show, producers Schwab and Mandel suggested to the cast that the production be run as a co-op. The cast was not interested and suggested to the producers that they take pay cuts. Neither plan worked out and the production closed.

Reviews were favorable out of town. But the New York critics (and audiences) did not give it high marks.
