Notes

The 1959 R&B song "There Goes My Baby" has music & lyric by Ben E. King, Lover Patterson and George Treadwell per the copyright record. The BMI rights organization also credits Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.

Treadwell was the manager of R&B vocal group The Drifters and Patterson was the broker who had assembled the group's 1959 lineup. In June 1958 Treadwell had fired the previous members of The Drifters and bought Patterson's management contracts with the existing group The Five Crowns, including King, who then began to perform under The Drifters' name.

The first recording of the song was in March 1959 by The Drifters with lead vocal by King, produced by Leiber & Stoller. It was released as an April 1959 single by Atlantic Records (45 & 78rpm, catalog number 2025). It was later included in the 1960 album The Drifters' Greatest Hits.
