Notes

Some online sources give the location of Mr. O’Brien’s birth as New York City, but we have chosen to list Rochester. This is because when his twin brother, Mortimer “Snooks” O’Brien, died in 1992, the obituary in Variety said that he was born in Rochester, which would surely mean that his twin brother was also born there.

Chet and Mortimer were the first recipients of Franklin J. Schaffner Award for Lifetime Achievement, given by the Directors Guild of America.
