Some online sources list March 13, 1949, as the date of birth for Ms. Migenes, whilte others list the year as 1945 or 1944. 1949 is clearly not the correct year as she played Ngana (alternating in the role with her sister, Maria) in the first cast of the national tour of South Pacific, which opened on April 24, 1950. Her bio for Fiddler on the Roof stated that she was seven when she made her professional debut in the South Pacific tour. In addition, an article that appeared in the New York Times on the day before the tour opened said that she was seven. Accordingly, we list 1943 rather than 1949 as her year of birth.
In 1966, however, she said in interviews in Newsday and the Daily News that she was six when the South Pacific tour opened, so 1944 seems possible as the year, but we think the earlier statements that she was seven are more likely correct.
