Act two was based on a story by Alexander Pushkin. Act three was inspired by the music of Jacques Offenbach and Charles Lecocq.
Three one-act musicals. The first was called "A Romantic Adventure of an Italian Ballerina and a Marquis". It was performed as a court performance in the Halls of San Souci in the time of Frederick the Great. The second was called "The Queen of Spades" and was based on a story by Alexander Pushkin. The third was called "1860, or, An Interrupted Festival".
