Trivia & History

'The Who' (Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, Keith Moon, Roger Daltry) performed TOMMY non-stop for almost two years at various locations including two performances at the Metropolitan Opera House in June of 1970. The earliest known performance was at the Philmore East, Off-Broadway, in Nov 1969. It also became a successful ballet and any number of different successful theatre pieces prior to being filmed in 1975. The Broadway version was first produced at the LaJolla Playhouse, LaJolla CA, 1992. For this production, the name was changed to THE WHO'S TOMMY.

Originally appearing in England at Derby, The Playhouse, 15 May 1975, TOMMY was produced a number of times before finally appearing on the West End.
