Trivia & History

This was not the first time that Anita Loos's novel was attempted to be musicalized. In 1926, Florenz Ziegfeld went to Florida to meet with Ms. Loos to discuss it. But he arrived the day after producer Edgar Selwyn had signed her to dramatize it as a play (which opened on Broadway in September 1926).

Mamie Van Doren and Morgan Fairchild both played Lorelei in regional productions. The exact dates and locations of these productions is unknown.
