Trivia & History

  • The opening number of this show underwent many changes. The first opener was "I Lost the Love of Anatol." This was replaced in Toronto by "The Gay Life," which in turn was replaced by a cathedral scene with the opening song "A Lovely Day to Have a Wedding." The latter was performed with "What a Charming Couple," which had been cut earlier in the Toronto run. This opening scene, with its two songs, was itself deleted several weeks after the New York opening.
