Trivia & History

Subtitled for 1997 reading: 'The Original Jeeves Musical'.

Betting on Bertie was originally a late 1960's project of Frank Loesser in collaboration with the pioneers of the American book musical, P. G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton, both of whom were in their eighties at the time. With the untimely death of Frank Loesser in 1969 and the later death of P. G. Wodehouse in 1975, the project was abandoned. Subsequently, Robert Wright and George Forrest resurrected it, reworking the material for a production which was never realized. Later still, the book was adapted by Douglas Holmes and Walter Willison, and the show was given a single-performance reading at the Promenade Theatre on 14 April 1997.
