A recording date of March 6, 1966, has sometimes been given for this recording, but that date is almost certainly incorrect. It was a Sunday, and the production was running on a Monday through Saturday performance schedule. There seems not to have been an Actors Fund benefit performance that night, which might have explained how this might have been recorded on a Sunday.
One possibility is that the correct date was June 3, 1966, and it was written British style on the original tapes or at some point when copies were passed on, and it was later misinterpreted. June 3 would make some sense. It was a Friday, and just eight days before the closing. Although the closing was not publicly announced till Monday or Tuesday of the following week, perhaps the company knew the closing was likely imminent, and that prompted this recording to be made.
In any case, the date remains uncertain but it seems highly unlikely that it could be March 6, 1966.
